Gravity

This is a picture of me jumping off of a brick wall onto the ground. The reason that I actually fall to the ground and I don’t float out into space is because of something called gravity. Isaac Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation says that every mass pulls, or attracts, all other masses. How much they pull the other masses depends on their size. Larger bodies of mass will, obviously, have a much stronger pull. This is what I am experiencing in the photo. Earth’s gravitational pull is being exerted on me while I am in the air. It is actually being exerted on me all the time! This is why we all stay on the ground when we walk and why no one can fly. Earth is always pulling downward on everything at an acceleration of 9.81 meters per second squared. This allows us to lift weights, because weights are being pulled towards the earth. This is what gives us a weight. We experience gravity every day of our lives in every single thing we do. This is just one example of Physics in everyday life.
